How to Discover God’s Will For Your Life
It is important to know what God wants to do with you. This knowledge will direct what classes you will take, what college and major you will pursue, what job and ministry you will undertake, and even whom you will marry.
Now, how do we determine God’s will for our lives? This is too important to leave to chance.
Know your spiritual gifts! How do we discover our gifts?
First, get busy! See a need, fill a need. Don’t worry if it seems unimportant or mundane, get started filling the need what is before you.
Proverbs 6
6 Go to the ant, you lazybones! Consider its ways, and be wise.
7 It has no chief, overseer or ruler; 8 yet it provides its food in summer
and gathers its supplies at harvest-time.
The ant simply does what it sees that needs to be done.
As you get involved, ask God to show you what else He wants you to do. The special task usually happens as you are busy doing something else. Lazy people rarely get asked.
Eventually, you will recognize God’s prompting and notice certain special traits happening through you. Follow those gifts as they develop, asking God to aid and direct you when and where to use them. When you recognize your gifts, you can walk in them with greater confidence and joy.
Once you understand which gifts God is working through you, you can focus on those courses, colleges, majors, or careers which will be supported by your gifts.
Proverbs 18
16 A person’s gift clears his way and gives him access to the great.
