Shavuot
Shavuot (Pentecost) is the LORD'S feast; not Jewish or Christian.
Vayikra (Leviticus) 23: ADONAI said to Moshe, 2 “Tell the people of
Isra’el: ‘The designated times of ADONAI which you are to proclaim
as holy convocations are my designated times.
Nu, when is Shavuot? Calendars vary!
15 “‘From the day after the day of rest — that is, from the day you
bring the sheaf for waving — you are to count seven full
weeks, 16 until the day after the seventh week; you are to count fifty
days; and then you are to present a new grain offering to ADONAI.
If YHVH wanted a date certain, like 6 Sivan, why use a confusing formula to calculate the date of Shavuot?
It is interesting, in this year 2026 (5786), the days of the week match up with what we read in the Bible narrative, Yeshua had His Passover on a Wednesday evening, the beginning of the 14th of Aviv (Nisan), was arrested that night, tried and sentenced to death the next morning (still the 14th), crucified and died that afternoon, and was
buried in a tomb close to sundown, all on the 14th (Thursday). He was in the tomb three full days and nights (Thur eve to Fri-Sat) and resurrecting after sundown Saturday evening, the 18th of Aviv. That same night is Yom haBikurim, the Feast of Firstfruits, and begins the counting of the Omer which will conclude at Shavuot, the Feast of Weeks, 50 days later.
Start counting the day after the weekly Sabbath (evening 18 Aviv). Note neither Pesakh (Passover) nor Khag Matzot (Feast of Unleavened Bread) are stated to be a Shabbat! Thus, the only Sabbath that can be used is the weekly Sabbath, ending the 18th. Then, count seven full Sabbaths and the evening after that seventh Shabat is the beginning of Shavuot (weeks)!
This year, the counting ends after sundown, Saturday the 23rd of May, 2026.
Shavuot always starts on a Saturday evening going into Sunday day.
